From September to January we carried out 40 trips to places ranging from Christchurch to Queenstown to Dunedin. 65 passengers were carried. Over 8,500 km were travelled.
Yesterday we received a donation from Rural Transport that will add to those made by David and Doreen Morland, Waitaki Valley Community Society, Otematata Residents Association and the Kurow Gentle Exercise Group and allow us to purchase the Toyota we are currently leasing.
Special thanks must go to the Twizel Community Car Trust who are giving the vehicle at such a reasonable price.
Signwriting will happen thanks to Just Signs in Timaru. (We are going to ignore the blemishes on the outside given the comfort on the inside)
Now we just need to find funds or sponsors to cover the cost of Insurance and the newly formed Waitaki Valley Vehicle Trust will own the first vehicle in what will be a fleet placed around the Waitaki Valley.
Thanks must go to Gary Kircher, Mayor of Waitaki, and the members of the Ahuriri Board who gave us seed money to start the venture. And none of this would be possible without the time and energy of the sixteen volunteer drivers from Kurow and Otematata.
