  • Kurow-Duntroon Irrigation Race General Notice to all public The Irrigation race will be turned on for pre-season testing at any time from September 1st. The race can rise and fall at any time making it a danger to all People and animals. The open channel race system is a Multiple Hazard Area and extreme care is needed where its passes through Kurow township and other all other areas, especially around any siphons and culverts .   • A $22,000 donation from Meridian Energy to St John will benefit Waitaki communities and help save lives. The donation from Meridian Energy’s Waitaki Community Fund was used by St John Waitaki to purchase a cardiac defibrillator.

  • Waitaki St John in Kurow Need More Recruits
    Waitaki St John based in Kurow desperately need volunteer recruits with an aim to train to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level. Currently there are only 3 EMT qualified volunteers and nine current First Responder volunteers. First Responders are trained in assessing and treating patients, including resuscitation, but to transport patients to hospital the ambulance must have an EMT level officer on the crew.

  • Waitaki St John area committee are wanting to start a Youth Programme for children in the Waitaki Valley. We need a small but important commitment from anyone willing to be involved. You don’t need to be a parent. The Youth Programme is for children between the ages of 6—9. The programme runs through the school terms and is a commitment of 1½ hours once a week.
