  • A $22,000 donation from Meridian Energy to St John will benefit Waitaki communities and help save lives. The donation from Meridian Energy’s Waitaki Community Fund was used by St John Waitaki to purchase a cardiac defibrillator.

  • Waitaki St John in Kurow Need More Recruits
    Waitaki St John based in Kurow desperately need volunteer recruits with an aim to train to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level. Currently there are only 3 EMT qualified volunteers and nine current First Responder volunteers. First Responders are trained in assessing and treating patients, including resuscitation, but to transport patients to hospital the ambulance must have an EMT level officer on the crew.

  • Waitaki St John area committee are wanting to start a Youth Programme for children in the Waitaki Valley. We need a small but important commitment from anyone willing to be involved. You don’t need to be a parent. The Youth Programme is for children between the ages of 6—9. The programme runs through the school terms and is a commitment of 1½ hours once a week.

  • Sadly the Waitaki District Council have had to put a Boil Water Notice in place for Kurow Water Supply. Check their website at www.waitaki.govt.nz to keep informed or ring Carron on 4360 950. As soon as the notice is lifted this news item will be updated.

  • It is with great pleasure that the Board of the Kurow Medical Centre would like to inform the community that Dr Annie Fyfe has agreed to join our Practice. Dr Fyfe will start on 2nd February 2015 as our permanent GP, previously having spent many years as the GP in Twizel.
